Maintaining A Healthy Body Weight

Have you ever tried multiple ways of losing weight and up to this time none of them really worked for you?

Don’t you feel so frustrated and cheated when you did your best to follow everything they said that you have to do and you were like a zombie in disguise giving all you’ve got to faithfully perform the routine and the tasks and yet still nothing happened?

Worst yet, you exhausted your resources like your money, your time, and your precious energy and at the end of the day, you still not getting the results you were expecting from all the work you have done just to maintain a healthy weight.

Then you say, ‘enough is enough, and then you stop. Ouch!

Skinny Or Not, Which One Is It?

A couple of years ago, I was at the bus stop waiting for the bus to come. I had been to church that evening and the road was very quiet and hardly anybody passing by.

I was concentrating on my left side as I knew the bus was coming that way.

I happened to just shift my head to the right side and I saw two adults walking with a little boy with them.

I gathered the woman was the boy’s mother and the man was the father walking behind them.

When they were getting near me, the woman was smiling so beautifully non-stop and so I smiled back though I really didn’t know who they were.

I have never met them or seen them before and I did like her gesture of smiling at me until they reached the point where I was standing.

Then, she stopped, and this was what she said. Now, remember, I did not know them. I have never met them before or seen them anywhere at all.

The woman asked, “Do you ever eat?”

Then she continued to walk on and the man just sheepishly smiled at me and went too.

My Attitude Was Tested

Now, If you were me, what would you do? Really, I was dumbfounded because first of all, like I said I did not know them, and secondly,

I felt that was a rude attitude to ask someone such a question from someone you don’t even know.

So, I thought to myself, “Why? do I look that skinny for her to ask me that?” That was on my mind until I got home that evening.

I rushed to my bedroom and looked at myself in the mirror intently and wonder why she said that.

I must admit I looked so skinny though fresh and healthy in appearance. I’d rather be like this than the other way around. I have been this size for a long, long time and I made sure I kept it this way.

Food Calories List

My own food consumption is not that hard, really it is so simple you can easily follow it. But beforehand, I am not suggesting you do the same thing as I am not familiar with your own physical condition.

Before you do anything else especially if you were on a restricted diet, please do consult your own personal physician, dietitian, or nutritionist before doing any changes in your diet.

Truthfully, I do not count my calorie intake, not ever.

I pretty know what I am consuming and it is just plain common sense what it is that you are putting in your mouth and how often you do it and how much food you are taking on a daily basis.

For one thing, I do not eat breakfast. What? What did you say? Yes, you saw it right. No breakfast. I know, I know. You have heard many times that breakfast is the most important diet during the day.

Tell you what, my dear. Just because you’ve seen that or heard that or read that doesn’t mean it can apply to everyone. If your body doesn’t want breakfast why would you force it and then you feel sick afterward?

Your body knows what is best for you and how to adapt and adjust to its environment so listen to your body.

Do What Works For You

But if you were one of those who did eat breakfast, go right ahead and never skip it especially if you knew you would not be able to have something to eat for a while till lunchtime.

Your body knows what it needs and please make sure you respect yourself by allowing time for your body to relax a few minutes before you eat and few minutes after you eat.

You would have enjoyed your food much better and would be digested properly

But Like I said if you had a certain ailment and are on a restricted diet, please do follow your regime and never skip anything that would be detrimental to your health.

Good Healthy Drinks

Now, remember I did say I didn’t eat breakfast. But there’s one thing I do at breakfast time, I do drink my coffee. That’s right. coffee is my breakfast and that’s it.

Some drink tea, others hot cocoa, and still others drink juices.

There are so many myths about coffee that it demonized the real benefit of it. It is full of antioxidants and has a lot of health benefits.

The caffeine in coffee can boost metabolism by 3-11% and burns fat by up to 910-29%.

Black coffee preferably has more benefits. Just don’t load it with sugar or any other high-calorie ingredients that will negate the benefit completely.

Drink green tea. Like coffee, green tea also has many benefits. It can also help you lose weight whether drink it or take it as an extract supplement.

It doesn’t really matter what you drink. It is all just a matter of preference. But a little caveat here. Please do use your common sense.

I am not suggesting drinking alcohol or those sodas especially diet ones. They are just so detrimental to your body and to your health.

Most people do know that but they still reasoned out that they liked it and that they are going to drink what they want to drink and who cares?

Hey, that’s fine as long as they don’t complain and blame others for the consequences of their actions. I can assure you there would be plenty.

An Observation:

This reminds me of a situation that I witnessed years ago. I have to meet my girlfriend at a certain restaurant and I was there before her.

So, I picked a table where she could easily catch a glimpse of me when she came. I was facing the entrance of the restaurant.

In front of me was another table and there was a middle-aged gentleman seated by himself.

I noticed that he had a lot of different-looking bags, paper, plastic, cloth, and a big backpack on the table and he was rummaging through them.

You know, you have to excuse me. I do observe a lot very quietly.

So this gentleman was taking out different little boxes and little plastic bottles from these different bags and took out a drink which was a diet soda.

Then he opened up those little boxes and little plastic bottles and one by one dumping what was inside of these little boxes and little bottles on the table.

I guess now you know what they are. All pills. Medications. They were a lot and little by little he took those pills with, you guessed it, the diet soda. Oh, no.

That was what I said in my mind and so glad I didn’t say it loud. I was flabbergasted.

Just imagine. I do not know what kind of medications they were but they were plenty and taking them with diet sodas?

Folks, you might say it’s none of my business and you are so right. It was not my business that was why I didn’t say anything. I was just observing.

But if he only knew the grave result of that action, he would not have ever taken those medications with a diet soda.

We are all given choices and decisions and it is our choices and decisions that will determine how we are going to be in the future.

Thoughts of your mind have made you of what you are. Thoughts of your mind will make you whatever you become from this day forward.

Water Or Else…

There is always an argument and then resulting in confusion on how much water should one take on a daily basis.

Everywhere you are, whoever you talk to, whatever the situation is when people start discussing intake of water almost everyone would tell you that you have to have eight glasses of water to take a day.

Really? Is that what it is? So, here are my questions to you?

  1. How much water is a glass of water?
  2. Do you give the same amount to a baby or a toddler?
  3. What about your elders, how much do they have to take?
  4. What about those that are working under the sun all day?
  5. Would it be the same amount during summer and winter?
  6. What about those with certain illnesses or sicknesses, is it the same too?

Maybe you do have more questions added to this. Bu this can be answered in one simple solution.

The Formula

Here it is. Weigh yourself and whatever your weight is divide that in two. Then calculate the answer into how many 8 ounces can you get from it as each glass of water has to be 8 ounces.

Example. If you weighed 160 lbs, divide that into 2 and your answer will be 80, right?

Then, calculate how many 8 ounces can you get from 80? The answer is simply 10.

Thus, you are supposed to drink 10 glasses of water a day with a glass of 8 ounces each.

Is that simple enough?

So now tell me. Will you give your baby or your toddler 8 glasses of water a day?

So now you know how much water you have to take in and one true scientific claim that drinking water especially before meals can help with losing weight is very true.

When you drink water before meals it can boost metabolism by 24–30% over a period of 1–1.5 hours, which helps to burn off a few more calories and even helps dieters eat fewer calories resulting in losing 44% more weight.

Wow! There you got it.

So far we had discussed the food calories list, good healthy drinks, benefits of water, and how much water you should take on a daily basis all of which are necessary for maintaining a healthy weight.

But here is one thing that most people dragged about because almost no one would like to participate in it.

You guessed it. Exercise.

Now, don’t be scared of that word, and try not to be stressed about it either. Listen, my dear. If you wanted to lose weight the one key factor to do it is to MOVE, MOVE and MOVE some more.

You don’t have to go to the gym, push yourself to death and spend a whole lot of money on memberships.

What about running?

You can if you want to and just be very careful where you go because your feet and ankles are so sensitive that when you lose your balance you might end up stepping on something unaware and sprain them.

You don’t want to end up in the hospital after that.

Furthermore, instead of running, I highly suggest doing some walking and if you were just starting out, do some walking in comfortable shoes for just twenty minutes and three times a week.

Then increase it to either thirty minutes three times a week or twenty minutes four times a week and then add some more minutes or another day of the week.

Make sure you do it just gradually until such time that you are walking for an hour every single day and enjoying it fully. Everything takes time but remember this.

Anything well worth doing is well worth working for.

One thing I do and this is one of the easiest ways to keep moving is that you do some house chores and eventually you would even surprise yourself because you had accomplished a lot that you have been wanting to do for a long time.

For one thing, after eating, do not sit back down and watch television. Get up for at least twenty minutes. And then you asked. “What shall I do?” Plenty to do in the house.

There is a saying that work is never done in the house so you can wash the dishes or mop your floor or do some laundry.

Yes, yes, I know. Hey better than sitting down all the time. You can clean the rooms in your house or fold up some dried clothes that you washed or tidy up cabinets, closets, or drawers.

There is plenty to do if you looked for them rather than just sitting down or lying down after meals.

Your food needs to be digested fully well and it would not help a bit if you were stagnant and then you will have a challenge having your bowels open. Am I right or AM I RIGHT?

So there you are. simple, plain, and easy-to-do ways and not mind secrets to maintaining healthy weights.

Everybody has his or her own style and choose your own style and stick to it and be more persistent, consistent, and diligent.

After all, it is your health, it is your body and it is your LIFE.

There is something I’d like to recommend and this has been scientifically proven to work. Do you know what I say all the time? You will never know until you try. What have you got to lose?

Thank you so much and welcome to your NEW YOU!

  1. Hello there! These are really great tips you provided for maintaining a healthy weight. Something that I definitely have to work on more is consuming more water. I also did not realize caffeine can boost metabolism and burn fat as well. Since you mentioned about skipping breakfast and you pretty much begin your first meal at lunch, are you essentially doing intermittent fasting (16 hour fast) then?
